This is real love.
There are many different types of love. But there is one type that stands out above the rest. It’s even stronger than unconditional love, and hard to find in our world. It’s other’s focused, given freely, and can’t be earned. It’s contra-conditional love.
In spite of who we are, what we’ve done, and what we deserve, it’s a love that’s present in the best of moments, and perseveres in the worst of times.
It goes completely against our nature.
So if it isn’t a part of our nature, where does it come from? Where does love come from? Real love comes from a place bigger than ourselves. It comes from a Person: God.
What’s astounding about this love, is that it doesn’t depend on what we have done. Just the opposite. Contrary to what we’ve done, God’s love makes the hardest choice, to pay the highest price, to give the greatest gift, to meet the deepest need.
You can see that in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”
But God
God is love, and does not let our sins and imperfections get in the way of experiencing it, and knowing Him. He made a way for us to escape sin and the penalty we deserve — death and hell.
God sent His Son Jesus to earth, to live a perfect life — the only perfect life there has ever been. And having showed us how to really love, He gave Himself up in our place as a sacrifice to cover our sins. On the cross, God treated Him as if He was personally responsible for our sins, and punished Him in our place, so that all and any who trust in Him by faith alone can be forgiven and free. Jesus was our substitute.
When we transfer the full weight of our souls onto Jesus, by faith alone, in what he did for us, we can be made right with Him, forever. More than anything, we want you to know this love that is eternal — it will transform your entire life.
If you would find it helpful, we would love to journey with you in this exploration of God’s love.
Surrender to love-fueled leadership
Love is calling you to come to Him. Jesus told his followers this: “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Let me teach you. I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Love is calling you to come and surrender.
Go to God, tell God you’re in need of grace, and ask for forgiveness for the things you’ve done that are not consistent with His humble and gentle heart.
Tell Jesus that you want His love to be the thing that guides your life from this day forward.
“He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.” – 2 Corinthians 5:15
A new life and a new love, that’s what Jesus is offering to you freely because He loves you.
You can pray right now
If this is the love you’ve been looking for, all you need is a simple prayer like this one.
“Jesus, my life isn’t what it should be and I thank you that it doesn’t have to be for me to come to you. I’m embracing your forgiveness and your promise to wash away my past. You have shown me great love by giving up your life on the cross as a payment for my sins, now I want to give you my life out of love for you. Help me to turn from what my life has been about to what my life should be about. Even though I don’t deserve it, I trust your love for me, now help me live your love for others.”
